What’s the movie about?
The film is about the slave Django (Jamie Foxx), a slave whose brutal past with his previous owners leads him to face to face with the German-born bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz). Schultz needs Django to track down the Brittle brothers. He assures Django that he will be a free man after the brothers have been captured. Nevertheless, the two men do not go their separate ways from now on. Instead, together they target the most wanted criminals in the South. But Django has an even bigger goal in mind: He wants to find and save his wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington). Their search leads Django and Schultz to Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). Candie is the owner of “Candyland”, a notorious plantation where Broomhilda also has to work. If Django and Schultz want to escape with Broomhilda, they have to choose between independence and solidarity, between sacrifice and survival…
