What’s the movie about?
The film is about the Olympic champion and wrestler Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum). Although Schultz has reached the peak of his career, sports enthusiast multimillionaire John du Pont (Steve Carell) wants him to participate in the preparations for training for the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul. Mark’s older brother and mentor Dave (Mark Ruffalo) will also be part of Team Foxcatcher. Du Pont, gun-loving neurotic and patriot with a megalomania tendency, involves Mark in a dangerous addiction – praise and luxury are paired with training agony and mental games. When Dave is persuaded one day to become a part of “Team Foxcatcher” and move to the property with his wife and children, diverging views, subliminal aggression and du pont’s growing paranoia unfold a disastrous dynamic.
