What’s the movie about?
Arnold Soames (Tommy Lee Jones) and his wife Kay (Mery Streep) have been married for 31 years and after an evening with their children, the two have to admit to themselves that they are no longer happy with the state of their emotionless and dormant marriage. As a result, Kay seeks literary advice and finds a book by relationship specialist Dr. Bernie Feld (Steve Carell). She is so enthusiastic about the tips that she decides to join Arthur for a week of couples therapy with the relationship doctor. At first, Arnold is put off by the sometimes unorthodox methods. Initially completely averse to the therapy, Arnold soon becomes friends with the doctor and feels the first changes. And Kay is also impressed by the first successes. Is it too late or will they manage to save their marriage?
